If not, I suggest you pick up a map and drive to another spot to get reception. Go early if you need to use you phone gps. Our phone didn’t get reception so she kindly opened the visitor center and showed us the best spot. There is a spot to the right of the front doors that has reception for most phones. ( the Shut-Ins were open till 8pm) We arrived as it was being closed for the day. One the way out I could not get cell phone reception from the Shut-in’s parking lot. I slipped but caught myself many, many time. I recommend bringing a first aid kit especially if walking in rivers is a new to you. There are fish (little) & algae everywhere so don’t wear you best swim suit. My son said his bathing suit smelled like fish-it wasn’t a strong scent but I could smell it too. The store has few items and there are some benches and a couple of tables. I saw one that someone put a ponytail holder on it so it could wear it like a bracelet. Luckily the one I used had a string left from a prior renter. If you rent a locker bring something to attach it to- as you will be left holding a key which you can easily loose in the Shut-Ins. the smaller one for wallets, cell phone- just small stuff. A larger one can fit towels, clothes, etc. I needed a place to stash my rental car key and cell phone. The store will give you change for a dollar so make sure you have cash. Here are some additional things to consider. Listen to the reviews that talk about it being slippery. Thank you Missouri State Parks for a lovely holiday weekend! Taxi was asked to leave campgrounds due to not having a reservation. Hard time locating a host to address the situation, but finally did. 2) Had a taxi cruise in/out multiple times on Sunday night that seemed suspicious. Two negatives: 1) Host for our loop left Friday to head to another campground, so there was only one host (from what we saw) through the holiday weekend. Campground had bike rentals available at the well stocked general store, which also had many other amenities available as well (wifi, laundry mat, etc.) Short walk from site 207. There were multiple hiking trails as well. Scenic paved trail that stretched from campgrounds to Shut-Ins and Visitor Center (approximately 5 miles round-trip). Minimal traffic on roads through camp sites and is one-way. Quiet, family and pet friendly (bring pet waste bags, as there are not pet waste stations). Bathhouse was behind site and from what my husband told me, was kept very clean/tidy. Our first time at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park Campgrounds was wonderful! We have a travel trailer and stayed at site 207 (electric/water/sewer). Just be aware if you have slides in the rear of the camper you’ll have to be in the middle of the pad or the slides won’t come out because of the location of the utilities and you may have the same issue with your awning. Finally, in site 207, due to the location of the fire ring, we were not able to have our awning out when we had a fire. But for a short drive to Lesterville to get gas, we were able to get double the amount of wood for the same price. The bundles said 1 cubic foot but there is no way. The network was down the one day it was open during our stay so we couldn’t buy anything unless we had cash. The store being closed also means there is no WiFi. You can still buy ice and wood from the hosts though. The store is closed thru the week immediately after Labor Day even with a full facility. Not the fault of the State Park, just need to be aware of it. Couple things we did not like, zero cell service in the park so we had to drive to the entrance a few times a day to check in with work/home. The shower houses and restrooms were very clean. Loop 2 was full but never felt chaotic and still felt very private. The campground is excellent - we love the full hookups, even though you have to reserve 6 months in advance. It was our first time, and I would recommend.
